Kosovo Pristina — Fibreglass Minaret Formwork Export

A congregation abroad wanting a minaret can go two ways: have a local contractor build it and accept the risk of never quite reaching the classical proportion, or import the formwork from Türkiye and cast in place. The second is both cheaper and more dependable in its result.

The set we produced for the mosque in Pristina does exactly that: shaft modules, a muqarnas şerefe ring and the transition block. When the formwork arrives on site the local crew only has to do the reinforcement and the concrete; proportion and ornament are already in the mould.

Why fibreglass minaret formwork?

Against steel and timber formwork, fibreglass has three clear advantages:

• Surface quality — the gel coat gives concrete smooth enough to need no render.
• Complex geometry — muqarnas, flute and chamfer negatives can be worked into the shell; in steel this is only possible by assembling parts.
• Weight — lighter than steel formwork of the same geometry, and divisible into modules that can be handled by hand on site.

Preparing for shipment

Export formwork is numbered in assembly order and loaded into the container in that order. Shell faces are separated so they cannot touch; a scratch in the gel coat transfers as a mark onto the concrete at the first pour. An assembly drawing and a pour sequence go out with the set.
