Turnkey Mosque Construction

Turnkey mosque construction means carrying out the site survey, architectural and structural design, structural shell, dome, minaret, interior and landscaping under a single main-contractor agreement. Zahan İnşaat has taken on this scope from its base in Samsun, working across Türkiye, since 2000, and offers associations and foundations staged handover tied to their cash flow.

02 · Places of worship

Minaret Construction

Minaret construction is the sequential building of the base, transition block, shaft, şerefe (the balcony from which the call to prayer is given), upper shaft, conical cap and finial. Zahan İnşaat builds minarets with an in-situ formwork system of its own manufacture; on single and double-şerefe minarets the shaft section is sized for wind load and to the Turkish Building Earthquake Code (TBDY 2018).

03 · Places of worship

Minaret Formwork

Minaret formwork is a modular system that allows the minaret shaft to be cast in place while following its upward taper. Zahan İnşaat manufactures base, transition, shaft, şerefe and cap formwork to each project’s dimensions; because the formwork combines a steel frame with a fibreglass (GRP) face, it can be reused dozens of times.

04 · Strengthening

Carbon Fibre Strengthening

Carbon fibre strengthening (CFRP) is the bonding of carbon fibre fabric or laminates to an existing reinforced-concrete member with epoxy resin, in order to increase its flexural, shear and confinement capacity. Although it weighs about a fifth of steel, it offers far higher tensile strength; because it does not enlarge the section, it costs no usable floor space and adds no weight to the structure.

05 · Strengthening

Reinforced-Concrete Strengthening

Reinforced-concrete strengthening is the work of raising the seismic resistance of an existing building through column jacketing, added reinforced-concrete shear walls, foundation reinforcement and added reinforcement. The work rests on a seismic performance assessment carried out under the Turkish Building Earthquake Code (TBDY 2018). Zahan İnşaat combines jacketing and carbon fibre solutions on the same site to balance time against cost.

06 · Manufacturing

Fibreglass Formwork Manufacture

Fibreglass formwork (GRP formwork) is lightweight formwork made from glass-fibre-reinforced polyester resin, used for curved and decorated concrete surfaces. It produces forms that cannot be achieved in timber or steel — domes, arches, muqarnas and rosettes — with a smooth face. Being light, it can be moved without a crane and, properly maintained, reused dozens of times.

07 · Waterproofing & fire

Passive Firestopping

Passive firestopping is the system that prevents fire and smoke spreading between compartments by sealing service penetrations and structural joints. Every point where a cable, pipe or ventilation duct passes through a wall or floor is sealed — for the required fire resistance period — with sealant, pillows, collars or mortar classified to EN 13501-2.

08 · Waterproofing & fire

Waterproofing and Damp Proofing

Waterproofing is the work of forming a continuous barrier that stops water entering the structure at foundations, retaining walls, roof terraces, roofs and wet areas. The method is chosen according to whether the water is under pressure: bituminous membrane or a crystalline system where it is, a two-component liquid-applied membrane on surfaces where it is not. The critical point is the details — joints, corners and service penetrations.

Authorised Sika Dealer

Zahan İnşaat is an authorised Sika dealer based in Samsun. It stocks waterproofing products, concrete repair mortars, epoxy anchors and adhesives, joint sealants and carbon fibre strengthening systems. It does not simply sell the products: because it applies the same systems on its own sites, it provides technical support on product selection and on site.

Method

How a site runs

The order is not accidental. Every job passes through the same four steps.

  1. A

    Survey

    The plot, the existing structural frame and the dimensions. What will be built, and what will be strengthened, becomes clear here. On strengthening jobs, core sampling and rebar detection are done at this stage.

  2. B

    Coordination

    Architecture, structural design and materials on one sheet. Formwork, carbon fibre, waterproofing and the chemical system are locked down before anyone reaches site, so there are no surprises there.

  3. C

    Execution

    Manufacturing and site work come from the same crew. From minaret formwork to column jacketing, the job runs under one site discipline and every stage is recorded photographically.

  4. D

    Handover

    Inspection, testing and paperwork. The keys and the technical file are handed over together with pull-off test, water-holding test or acceptance inspection results.

Why a single contractor

One contract, one point of contact

Mosque, minaret, strengthening and waterproofing are not split between separate subcontractors. The project stays under a single responsibility, so nothing falls through the gaps between trades.

We manufacture our own formwork

Minaret and dome formwork is made in our own shop. Motifs and geometry are not improvised on site; they come off the formwork face, and the dimensions hold.

As an authorised Sika dealer, waterproofing, repair and strengthening chemicals arrive on site as a matched system. The application is documented with tests and reports.

What does Zahan İnşaat do?

We have nine service lines: turnkey mosque construction, minaret building, minaret formwork manufacturing, carbon fibre (CFRP) strengthening, reinforced-concrete strengthening, fibreglass formwork manufacturing, passive fire stopping, waterproofing and damp proofing, and authorised dealership for Sika construction chemicals. All of these can be combined under a single contract.

Which provinces do you work in?

Our base is in Samsun Atakum. To date we have completed work in many provinces, principally Samsun, Ordu, Ankara, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş and Niğde. Because our site crews and formwork systems are transportable, we take on work anywhere in Türkiye.

Why choose a single contractor for mosque and minaret work?

In a mosque or a minaret the geometry is unforgiving. When formwork, reinforced concrete and finishing are split between different subcontractors, responsibility for dimensional accuracy disappears, and any deviation that shows up on site becomes an argument about whose work it was. Under a single-contractor model there is one party accountable from formwork manufacture to the handover record.

What is the first step for seismic strengthening?

The first step is a seismic performance assessment. Cores are taken from the structure, the reinforcement is located, and the building’s current performance is calculated under the Turkish Building Earthquake Code (TBDY 2018). Without that report there is no way to decide which member should be strengthened with carbon fibre and which with jacketing. If you do not have a report, we coordinate with a licensed structural office on your behalf.

What do you need in order to quote?

For a minaret: height, number of şerefe (balconies) and shaft type. For a mosque: plot size, dome span and number of minarets. For strengthening: a performance report or the existing drawings. If all you have is photographs and an idea, that is fine too — we come out to survey the site.

In the Projects section we publish site photographs, with location and year, of the mosques at Samsun Atakum, Ordu Kayabaşı, Gaziantep Zahide and Merinos, Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University, Ankara Eşref Akıncı, Niğde Karatlı and Çarşamba Damlataş, along with a carbon fibre strengthening application.
